- Time:2 hours
Project time does not include time needed neither to bake and cool cupcakes nor for prepping some of the fondant shapes a day in advance.
For each cupcake, roll Black fondant into a log, 1/4 inch in diameter. Cut log into six legs (each leg should be 3-1/2 inch long). Curve legs. Let dry 24 hours on parchment paper-covered cake board. Make extras to allow for breakage.
Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cupcakes.
Tint portions of icing Black, Green and Gray (use a little Black to make Gray). Tip: combine Leaf Green with Lemon Yellow for Green shown.) Use spatula and Black icing to ice top of cupcakes smooth.
Use fondant roller with Pink guide rings to roll out Black fondant 1/16 inch thick. Use third largest (3-1/4 inch diameter) circle cutter to cut one shape for each treat. Cover top of cupcakes.
Prepare thinned fondant adhesive (water and a bit of White fondant). Roll 1 inch ball of Black fondant. Flatten ball slightly to make head. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach to cupcake.
Use end of brush handle to make openings for three legs on each side of cupcake, 1/4 inch from edge. Insert legs. Use thinned fondant adhesive to secure.
